5 MoUs signed between India and Palestine

Extending an "unwavering support(अटूट समर्थन)" to the Palestinian cause, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has affirmed (पुष्टि की) that India hopes to see a sovereign, independent, united and viable Palestine which will co-exist peacefully with Israel.  India also called for an early resumption (पुनरारंभ) of talks between Israel & Palestine in order to move towards finding a comprehensive (व्यापक) resolution to the Palestinian issue. India and Palestine also signed five agreements. 

Prime Minister Narendra Modi met Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas at Hyderabad House. PM Modi earlier met President Abbas on the sidelines of UNGA in September 2015. 

Palestian President is on a 4-day visit to India. After the restricted talks India and Palestine sign five agreements. These were MoU on visa exemption for diplomatic passport holder, agriculture cooperation, cooperation in field of IT & Electronics, health sector and cooperation in the field of youth affairs and sports. 

PM Narendra Modi said India has been unwavering in its support to Palestine. He said that India hope to see a sovereign, independent, united and viable Palestine, co-existing peacefully with Israel.

India also called for early resumption(पुनरारंभ) of talks between Palestinian and Israeli sides to find a comprehensive resolution. India has been contributing to material & technical assistance to Palestine. India has been building a techno Park in Ramallah at the cost of $12 million.

The Palestinian leader meanwhile briefed PM Modi about Middle East peace process, his meet with US President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin and thanked India for supporting Palestine at various international forums.

He said that India is a great nation and a friend and can play an important role in Middle East peace process. The statement assumes significance ahead of PM Modi's Israel visit, a first by any Indian PM. 

Earlier during the day, he paid homage to the father of the nation by laying wreath at his Samadhi in Raj Ghat. He was given a ceremonial guard of honour at Rashtrapati Bhavan.
