President Mukherjee unveils Veerappa Moily's book
President of India Pranab Mukherjee launched senior Congress leader Veerappa Moily's book 'The Flaming(ज्वलंत) Tresses of Draupadi' at the Rashtrapati Bhavan, New Delhi recently where he complimented (बधाई दी) Moily for re-telling the Mahabharata epic from Draupadi's perspective(परिप्रेक्ष्य) . President Mukherjee praised Moily's book saying that it would keep the readers engaged till the end.
'The Flaming Tresses of Draupadi' portrays Draupadi as a strong female character that ultimately brought to retribution all those who had done injustice to her. It traces Draupadi's life and times beginning from the time of her birth from the sacrificial fire, where she was named 'Yagnaseni', to her marriage to the five Pandav brothers, to losing her fortune and honour to the Kauravas in a gamble, the deep friendship she forged with Lord Krishna and finally the culmination(परिणति)of the great battle of Kurukshetra.
Despite(बावजूद) being busy with his political journey, Moily has written in both Kannada and English. His most ambitious work till date is the epic 'Shree Ramayana Mahaveshanam', which received the prestigious Moortidevi Award of the Bhartiya Jnanpith.
The book was attended by former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and other eminent politicians, bureaucrats and academics.
