Cheteshwar Pujara Breaks Gautam Gambhir's 8-Year Old Record

New Delhi: Star Indian middle-order batsman Cheteshwar Pujara has added yet another feather to his already illustrious cap. Pujara has now broken opener Gautam Gambhir's record of most runs scored in a season to add another milestone(मील का पत्थर) to his kitty.
Gambhir slammed(पटक दिया) an astonishing(आश्चर्यजनक) 1269 runs in the 2008/09 season, but Pujara has now eclipsed (ग्रहण) that mark in spectacular(बहुत शानदार) style in the ongoing Border Gavaskar Trophy against Australia. Pujara needed four runs in the Dharamsala to surpass Gambhir's record and the Saurashtra star slammed a boundary to get off the mark and in process also set a new milestone.
Pujara went onto bring up his 15th half-century to put India into a good position, before he was dismissed for 57 by Nathan Lyon.
Pujara is having a breakthrough season that has seen him score bucket-load of runs against the likes of New Zealand, England and now Australia at home.
Against the Kiwis, Pujara managed to score 373 runs in the three-match series, which included one century and three half-centuries. In the 5-match series against England, Pujara aggregated 401 runs with the help of two tons and one fifty.
Pujara also slammed half-centuries in both innings of the one-off Test match against Bangladesh in Hyderabad, helping India win the match by 208 runs.
In the ongoing series, the 29-year-old scored a match-winning half-century in the second innings of the Bengaluru Test, while in Ranchi, Pujara slammed his third double ton of his career that helped India draw the match.
