ANAND KUMAR APPOINTED BSP VICE-PRESIDENT

ANAND KUMAR APPOINTED BSP VICE-PRESIDENT

Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) chief Mayawati appointed younger brother Anand Kumar as the vice-president of her party and authorised(अधिकृत) him to take decisions(फैसले) and sign documents in her absence. The announcement was made by Mayawati while addressing party workers on the occasion of the 126th birth anniversary of Dalit icon Dr BR Ambedkar in Lucknow on Friday.

However, the BSP chief clarified (स्पष्ट किया) that her brother would not become an MLA, MP or CM but will continue to do his business.  “Anand Kumar is facing the ire of the BJP government at the Centre but has not bowed(झुकाया) to their pressure. My brother’s family has also served Kanshi Ram during his ill health,” Mayawati said.

Attacking the BJP government at the Centre, the BSP chief alleged that they were trying to harass her family members particularly Anand Kumar through Income Tax, Enforcement Directorate and CBI.

Anand Kumar, who called the shots during the previous BSP regime without holding any post in the government or in the party, runs several businesses.

The appointment of Anand Kumar is set to overshadow(छाया में रखना) senior leaders of the party like Satish Chandra Mishra and others who were presently considered next in the party hierarchy after Mayawati.

Without attaching any specific reason for the elevation, Mayawati seems decided to bring her heir from the family thus reneging on her earlier promise that no one from her family would be involved in politics.

As per Article IV of the BSP constitution filed with the Election Commission, ‘the organisation would have one vice- president along with the president’. Clause VI says, ‘In the absence of the national president, all functions of the former could be performed by the national vice-president, provided that all decisions taken by him/ her in such situation shall be put up before the national president for ex post facto approval’.

The next Clause VII says, ‘In the event of unfortunate demise of the national president, the national vice-president shall immediately and automatically assume charge as national president and shall continue to function as such until the end of the current term of the national president’.
