Agra, Gorakhpur airport terminals named after Upadhyay, Gorakhnath

The Uttar Pradesh cabinet on Tuesday gave a major push to the government’s saffron agenda(भगवा एजेंडा) by deciding to name the civil terminal of Agra’s Kheria Air Force airport after BJP ideologue(विचारधारा) Pt Deen Dayal Upadhyay. Chief minister Yogi Adityanath presided over the cabinet meeting that also decided to name the civil terminal at IAF’s Gorakhpur airport after Mahayogi Gorakhnath, founder of ‘Nath Pant’ (monastic(मठवासी) movement). The chief minister is the mahant of Gorakhnath temple.

Cabinet ministers Siddharthnath Singh and Srikant Sharma briefed media persons about the cabinet decisions.

The cabinet’s decision to name the terminals comes after Yogi decided to replace ‘Samajwadi’ with ‘Mukhya Mantri’ (chief minister) in all government schemes.

The cabinet also decided to exempt from entertainment tax the Hema Malini-starrer Hindi biopic “Ek Thi Rani Aisi Bhi” based on the life of Rajmata Vijay Raje Scindia.

Singh said Scindia was an important pillar of BJP’s ideology and that the film is based on ‘Rajpath Se Lokpath’, a book written by Goa governor Mridula Sinha.

The cabinet decided to rename “Viklang Jan Vikas Vibhag” (handicapped development department) as “Divyang Jan Sashakti Karan Vibhag” following a similar decision taken by Prime Minister Narendra Modi at the centre.
