Kapil Dev Launches ‘Numbers Do Lie: 61 Hidden Cricket Stories’

Kapil Dev Launches ‘Numbers Do Lie: 61 Hidden(छिपा हुआ)  Cricket Stories’  Did you know that Sachin Tendulkar is not India’s number 1 batsman? Or that there is a forgotten(भुला दिया) hero from 1983 World Cup? A new book on interesting cricket facts based on solid statistics ‘Numbers Do Lie: 61 Hidden Cricket Stories’ was launched by Kapil Dev on Tuesday at the Indian International
Centre which has facts about cricket that even the biggest cricket fan might not know. Written by former test cricketer, writer and commentator Aakash Chopra, the book has been written along with Impact Index statistical system so that all the stories are fact based and backed by statistics. In easy-to-understand everyday language the book has unearthed (पता लगाया) surprising and sensational facts. For example, Rahul Dravid is India’s greatest Test batsman, Virender Sehwag had a problem with expectation and Virat Kohli did something in the 2011 World Cup that no one remembers him for now. The author Aakash Chopra, described the book, saying “Impact Index’s findings may not be the last word in cricket but they are certainly thought-provoking(उत्तेजक) . They turn all conventional assumptions about numbers, and their role in conversations (संवाद) on the game, on their head. I participate in this project as a neutral observer – one who is both impressed and intrigued.”

Impact Index is a statistical system that examines every performance in a cricket match and series context. The book combines 7 years of Impact Index’s work resulting in a book backed by statistical (सांख्यिकीय) facts.
