JNU ex-VC passes away (देहांत हो गया) NEW DELHI: Noted economist and former JNU VC, Dr B B Bhattacharya, passed away on Tuesday at a Delhi hospital after suffering a cardiac arrest. He was 71. Bhattacharya was the vice-chancellor (कुलपति) of JNU between 2005 and 2011 and earlier served (सेवा की) as a professor at capital's Institute of Economic Growth, Delhi, and at IIM, Lucknow.
Ailing for the last year, Bhattacharya had served as chairman/member of many committees and commissions of the government of India, and as a consultant to the World Bank, IMF, UNDP, Reserve Bank of India, Planning Commission and the Finance Commission.
