India's Jehan Daruvala creates history with New Zealand Grand Prix win

India's Jehan Daruvala creates history with New Zealand Grand Prix win Jehan Daruvala created history by winning the New Zealand Grand Prix at Manfield on Monday, becoming the first Indian to clinch a Grand Prix in Motorsport. Daruvala’s feat at the Chris Amon circuit put him in the elite (अभिजात वर्ग) company of Keke Rosberg, Sir Jackie Stewart, Sir Jack Brabham, Sir Stirling Moss,
John Surtees, Bruce McLaren among others, according to a report by PTI.  He is also the first Indian to reach the podium (मंच) in any FIA World Championship when he finished as the second runner up at the World Karting Championship in 2014. Daruvala has also won the British KF3 Karting Championship.

During the weekend, Daruvala claimed pole position, narrowly (थोड़ा सा) beating Brazilian Pedro Piquet. He went on to make a solid run after starting from pole, racing ahead of the rest of the pack.

However, he was also shown the red flag, but he recovered to do well after the restart and lead the race. New Zealander Marcus Armstrong was hot on Daruvala’s heels but the latter maintained his composure(मानसिक संतुलन) to finish less than a second ahead him. Australia’s Thomas Randle finished third.
