revealed(प्रकाशित) , on February 14, 2017. A group of citizens, including petitioners in the Bombay High Court against the felling of trees for the Metro, Ashish Paul, Pervin Jehangir, Sanjay Asher and Zoru Bhathena, met Fadnavis to discuss the issue. “The CM assured us that he is pro-environment and the government will take all possible steps, to save the maximum number of trees. We told him that more trees are going to be chopped(काटा हुआ) down than required, which is a major environmental destruction (विनाश) throughout the city,” Bhathena said. 

“The CM told us that the metro is just one step to reduce (कम हो) the carbon footprint. We assured him that we are not anti-metro and in fact, we believe that the metro will be a boon(वरदान) for Mumbai,” Bhathena said.

According to initial estimates, more than 5,000 trees are required to be cut for the current proposed route between Colaba and Seepz in Andheri, under phase 3 of the Mumbai Metro.
