According to the Date Sheet released on the CBSE website, Class X and Class XII both exams will begin on March 09, 2017. But, while the Class X exam will end on April 10, the Class XII 2017 exam will continue till April 29.

"The board has given careful consideration to the situation before postponing the exams by a week which will now allow the students to get more time for the preparation and ensure uninterrupted sequence of ex aminations", the CBSE added.

"The board has made all possible efforts to maintain reasonable time gap between the major papers and also ensured that the students appearing for Joint Engineering Exam (JEE) and upcoming National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) complete the CBSE examinations ahead of these entrance exams", it said.

"The annual exam result will be declared on time as the board has adopted several IT initiatives which will aid in faster result processing", the board said.

The CBSE further said that a total of 16,67,573 students of 16,354 schools will appear for the Class X exam to be held at 3,974 centres.
