PM inaugurates 8th Vibrant Gujarat Summit

PM inaugurates 8th Vibrant Gujarat Summit Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurates the 8th vibrant Gujarat Summit at Gandhinagar; Heads of Government and Ministers of foreign countries and eminent industrialists to address the summit. This time, the event is being held on a mega scale with many head of states, top Indian and global CEOs and several business houses participating. The Gujarat
govt is aiming to sign over 20,000 MoUs which could entail investment commitments from Fortune 500 companies amounting to around 30 lakh crore rupees.

Apart from CEO's of multinationals several top functionaries of different countries are also going to be there. 

The list also incldues 12 union cabinet ministers and chief minsters of varoius states. More than 2000 companies will be taking part in the Vibrant Gujarat SUmmit. 

PM Modi interected with some of the top state heads ahead of the formal inauguration of the Summit on Tuesday. 

The US Assistant Secretary of State for South and Central Asian Affairs in the United States Department of State, Nisha Desai Biswal will remain present along with large US business delegation. 

12 nations, including USA, UK, Australia, Canada, Denmark, France, Japan, The Netherlands, Poland, Singapore, Sweden and UAE have agreed to become partner countries for the event. Representatives of these countries will come with large business delegations. 

After the inauguration ceremony, Prime Minister Narendar Modi will chair the Global CEO Roundtable event with 50 top industry leaders both from India and abroad. Finance Minister Arun Jaitley will also be part of Global CEO Roundtable event. 

The Vibrant Gujarat Global Summit, which was started by then Gujarat Chief Minister Narendar Modi in 2003, is aimed at attracting investment in Gujarat. The central focus of the upcoming Summit is 'Sustainable Economic and Social Development'. 

The state government expects to receive investment proposals of more than Rs 25 lakh crore. The Vibrant Gujarat Summits, which is held every two years, is the brain child of Prime Minister Narendra Modi Modi. The previous edition of the summit was held in January 2015. 

Gujarat Chief Minister Vijay Rupani said the state has materialised almost 70% of MoUs signed in all the earlier Vibrant Gujarat Summits. 

As many as 157 MoUs are expected to be signed during 'Vibrant Gujarat Global Summit', including huge investments for setting up two private universities. 

157 investment intentions approved by the state include seven for setting up private universities, eight for start-ups and research institutes, 18 for skill development and knowledge centres and 103 educational institutes.
