Nepal to host Interpol's regional conference next week Nepal is set to host Interpol's Asia-Pacific regional conference next week with about 250 top police officials from 50 countries expected to take part in the deliberations. The 23rd Asia-Pacific regional conference of the Interpol will be held in Kathmandu from January 18 to 20.Around 250 senior police officers from 50 countries will take part in

the conference, said Bigyan Raj Sharma, Additional Inspector General at Crime Investigation Department of Nepal Police, the organiser of the event.

Observers from three countries, including the US and France, will also participate. 

Interpol president, Meng Hongwei, who is also a vice minister of Peoples Republic of China, will also be in Kathmandu to take part in the conference. 

The world conference of Interpol held in Bali, Indonesia, in 2016, had elected Meng as its president. 

The Interpol conference held in Singapore two years ago had proposed holding the 23rd regional conference of the world policing body in Nepal. 

The conference will focus on terrorism, human trafficking, organised crime and cybercrime among other issues. 

At the three-day conference, Inspector General of Nepal Police Upendra Kanta Aryal will present a working paper on steps that his country has taken against human trafficking and the prevailing situation.
