MoU signed between NITI Aayog and University of Petroleum and Energy Studies

MoU signed between NITI Aayog and University of Petroleum and Energy Studies NEW DELHI: A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) has been signed between NITI Aayog and University of Petroleum and Energy Studies (UPES), Dehradun. This will provide a framework for cooperation between NITI Aayog and UPES to collaborate for designing, developing, and conducting consultative
policy dialogue and business research to promote and enable high level energy efficiency policy formulation in India.

As per the MoU, activities that would be jointly undertaken will include provision of inputs on the implications of clean coal technology on the overall energy scenario of India and inputs on implications of high penetration of renewables on the grid.

According to a release, the two will collaborate to enhance the capacity of Indian states and develop suitable outreach and communications materials including energy efficiency market and policy briefs, newsletters and reports showcasing the progress.

According to Prasoom Dwivedi, head of Department of Economics and International Business, College of Management & Economic Studies at UPES, the University is already working with NITI Aayog. The two are jointly studying the impact of renewable penetration on grid integration in India and Japan and implication of clean coal technologies (CCT) energy scenarios of India and Japan.
