Marathas launch the ‘Rashtriya Maratha Party’

Mumbai : After staging several silent protests across every district in Maharashtra, the Maratha morcha activists have come together and formed a new political outfit, the Rashtriya Maratha Party (RMP). The party officials told the Free Press Journal that they will contest the ensuing civic polls in major cities of Maharashtra like Pune, Pimpri-Chinchwad, Mumbai, Nashik and Solapur.  The top agenda of
the newly made party is to raise the issues of the Maratha community. Through their silent protests, the organisers had drawn up a 22 point agenda which they have presented to the chief minister, Devendra Fadnavis. However the Rashtriya Maratha Party President Ankushrav Patil said that they will also be wooing the ‘sons of the soil’ ballot which till now has been propagated by the Shiv Sena and Maharashtra Navanirman Sena.

“Our priority is to tap our own community and the party is also eyeing the Marathi speaking people. However we will not restrict ourselves to one community. We will work for all distressed people,” said Patil. He added, “We will continue to fight for our right for reservation in education and employment.”
