Five chosen for Karnataka Sahitya Academy award

Five chosen for Karnataka Sahitya Academy award The Karnataka Sahitya Academy has announced awards for 2015 to writers Nagesh Hegde, H.S. Parvathi, O.L. Nagabhushana swamy, Balasaheb Lokapura, and Basavaraja Kukkarahalli for their lifetime contribution to Kannada literature. Similarly, 16 writers have been selected for the 2015 book awards. While the littĂ©rateurs will be
presented a cash prize of ₹50,000 and citation, the book award winners will receive ₹25,000 with citation. Winners of the book award are Satyamangala Mahadeva (poetry), Lata Gutti (novel), Anupama Prasad (short story) Chidananda Sali (play), H. Shantaraja Aithal (essay), B.S. Pranatarthiharan (travelogue), Dodda Hulluru Rukkoji (biography), H.L. Pushpa (literary criticism), Vijayashree Haladi (children literature), Na. Someshwara (science literature), G. Rajashekar (humanities), A.V. Navada (research), Shylaja (translation-creative), B.S. Jayaprakash Narayana (translation non-creative), Gopal Vajapayee (non-fiction), and Deepa Girish (debut work of writer).

Seven writers won the endowment awards for 2014. They are Siddu M. Satyannanavara (poetry-manuscript), Janagere Venkataramaiah (novel), Gajanana Sharma (biograpahy), Kavitha Rai (literary criticism), Jayalalitha (translation-creative), Champa Jayaprakash (debut work of the writer), Srinath Perur (translation from Kannada to English). Academy chairperson Malathi Pattanshetty said the awards would be presented on February 7 at Ravindra Kalakshetra.
