26 crore accounts open under Jan Dhan Yojana across country According to latest data released by Finance Minister Arun Jaitley, 26 crore three lakh accounts have been opened under the Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana (PMJDY) across PMJDYthe country till date. 15.86 crore accounts are opened in rural area and 10.17 crore accounts opened in urban area. Over 71 thousand 500 crore
rupees have been deposited in these accounts and zero balance accounts has come down to 23.86 per cent.
Nearly 20 crore RuPay Debit cards have also been issued under the scheme.
Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana (PMJDY) :
♦ Pradhan Mantri Jan-Dhan Yojana(PMJDY) is India’s National Mission for Financial Inclusion to ensure access to financial services, namely Banking Savings & Deposit Accounts, Remittance, Credit, Insurance, Pension in an affordable manner.
♦ The Scheme was launched by the Prime Minister Narendra Modi on August, 2014 with the objective of covering all households with at least one bank account.
