Scientists Identifies Protein Called CD36 Responsible for Spreading Cancer

Scientists Identifies Protein Called CD36 Responsible for Spreading Cancer  Scientists at the Institute for Research in Biomedicine (IRB Barcelona), identified a specific protein called CD36 which is responsible for spreading cancer. scientists Identifies Protein Called CD36 Responsible for Spreading Cancer.  CD36 is found in the cell membrane ands of tumour cells are dependent on fatty
acids. The researchers found that the protein was present on metastatic (spread) cancer cells from patients with a range of different tumours including oral tumours, melanoma skin cancer, ovarian, bladder, lung and breast cancer.  To confirm the essential role of protein in spreading cancer, the researchers added CD36 to non-metastatic (non-spreading) cancer cells which then caused the cells to become metastatic. Scientists around the globe are trying to understand the process of occurring of protein and develop new ways to stop it.
