National Pollution Control Day 02 December

National Pollution Control Day 02 December
Pollution prevention is a major global concern because of the harmful effects of pollution on a person's health and on the environment. Environmental protection means caring for our resources and subsequently for ourselves and ensuring a sustainable future for generations to come will have a better
environment. Today on National Pollution Control Day, we should remember that everyone is a stakeholder as we are all inhabitants of this one and only mother earth.

Pollution is a serious and growing problem throughout the world today. This poses danger not only for current generation but for furture as well.

National pollution control day is celebrated every year on 2nd of December to make aware the people and most importantly to aware the industries about paying great attention towards the need of Pollution Control Acts.

This day is also celebrated to give honor and memorialize the thousands of human beings who had lost their lives because of the Bhopal gas tragedy in 1984. Many more were left severly affected due to poisonous gas that leaked from Union Carbide plant in Bhopal.

It was a catastrophe that had no parallel in the world's industrial history and people there continue to witness deaths and physical and mental disability.

The government has launched serious acts and rules for control and prevention of pollution all over the country. With this, the government ensures proper implementation of rules and all the preventive measures of pollution.

Efforts are also being made at the world stage. The Paris agreement on climate change entered into force on November 4, marking the first time that governments have agreed legally binding limits to global temperature rises. India has also signed the agreement.

Today, as we celebrate National Pollution Control Day we should remember what was said during United Nations Environment Programme "One person alone cannot save the planet's biodiversity, but each individual's effort to encourage nature's wealth must not be underestimated."
