Little science genius Rohit K conferred with National Child Award for developing a system that protects buildings from fire A young boy in his teens, Rohit K, has been conferred with the National Child Award for developing a system that protects buildings from fire. The ministry of Women and Child Development awarded the silver medal for his excellence in field of innovation. He has
developed a unique device called “Dual Alert Caller” (DAC). This machine can be used for protecting buildings from fire and from theft. In the event of fire the machine sends information about fire to the responsible person through mobile phone and at the same time throws water automatically through a motor pump to prevent the outbreak. The machine can also be used as a device for preventing theft by blowing siren in houses, banks etc. Rohit got second prize with A Grade in the state level Sansthrolsavam in 2015-16, conducted by general Education Department, Government of Kerala. He participated in the South India science Fair 2016. The National Child Awards for Exceptional Achievement gives recognition to children with exceptional abilities in fields such as academics, culture, arts, sports, music etc.Children in the age group of 5-18 years are eligible for the award. The award comprises one Gold Medal and 30 silver medals including certificate and a cheque of Rs 20,000 to Gold Medalist and Rs 10,000/- to each Silver Medalist.
