Former Puducherry Deputy Speaker A V Sreedharan passes away , Former Puducherry Deputy Speaker and former MLA of Pallur Constituency A V Sreedharan died at his house at Palloor in Mahe, due to age-related ailments early today. He served as Deputy Speaker of Puducherry from June 1, 2006 to September 3,2008. He was 71 and survived by wife Seetha and two children A V Shejin and Subin.
The funeral will take place tomorrow at his house at Pallur.

He was born in 1945 as the son of A V Kunhappu of Pallur and C P Devi of Palathayi Senior Congress leader A V Sreedharan, popularly knows as "AV ", who represented Palloor in Mahe, an enclave of Puducherry in Kerala.

Sreedharan had held Palloor constituency in Mahe region consecutively for six terms since 1985.

He was employed in a spinning mill and entered the trade union activities from Mahe Spinning mill in 1964. He served as Kannur district general secretary of INTUC, Kerala State textile workers federation State secretary, Puducherry INTUC working committee member.

He was also a theatre artiste and performed about 45 amateur dramas at Mahe and Pallur.UNI AK SV SB 1308
