10,000 girl students to participate in National Women’s Parliament VIJAYAWADA: The National Women’s Parliament will be organised by the Andhra Pradesh Legislative Assembly in association with MAEER’s MIT School of Governance on February 10, 11 and 12 at Pavithra Sangamam in the capital city Amaravati.  All women members of Indian Parliament and Legislative Assemblies of various states
and over 10,000 girl students from colleges of higher education will participate in the dialogue.
The state advisory council headed by Speaker Kodela Siva Prasad Rao held a meeting with the vice-chancellors of various universities, the officials of the police department and the district officials on the arrangements to be made for the mega event. The meet discussed the arrangements and steps to be taken to improve student participation. Circulars have been issued to 2,250 colleges across the country inviting them to send girl students.
Addressing the gathering, Speaker Kodela Siva prasada Rao  said that this was a prestigious event. He said as many as 17 committees have been constituted to make arrangements for the event. “This is the first-of-its-kind meeitng in India and we are also inviting eminent women from across the world to take part in the event. The need of the hour is to make girls realise their potential, to make them aware of the bright future that awaits them, guide them and nurture them,” he added.

Krishna District Collector A Babu said that the riverfront area at the venue would be developed to organise entertainment related activities for the delegates. He said the road works near the temple would be completed before the inaugural to ease the traffic congestion.
The panel is looking to rope in translators for the event for the benefit of non-English speakers. The Special Representative of Government of AP for North America Komati Jayaram is holding talks with the women industrialists, senator Kamala Harris, Melinda Gates and others so that they take part in the event. Among those invited to the event are FLOTUS Michelle Obama and UK PM Theresa May.
