Two Ludhiana girls win bronze in national-level judo tourney

Two Ludhiana girls win bronze in national-level judo tourney, Adding another feather to their cap, two girls from the city bagged bronze medal in the under-19 category and DAV Mahatma Hansraj National Judo Tournament held recently at DAV University, Jalandhar Prabhsimran Kaur Gill won the medal in -52 kg category while Shubneen Gill won in 61+ kg weight category. Both the girls represented Punjab
zone. Over 120 judokas from several parts of the country participated in the meet.
Prabhsimran as well as Shubneen are studying in Class 10 at DAV Public School, BRS Nagar.
Trained by coach Amandeep Singh for last two-and-half-years, Prabhsimran and Shubneen have earned many medals.
Prabhsimran won a gold medal in the state championship organised by School Games Federation of India held last year in Bathinda and a silver medal in the October this year.

She has participated twice at the national-level championships.
Shubneen had silver medal in open state championship organised by Sports Authority of India last year at Bathinda. She had bagged a bronze medal in the Punjab rural state games held at Ropar last year.
Along this she won silver medal at a national-level championship held in Jammu.
“Both the girls devote an hour for the practice in the morning and then attend the school. Along with exceeding in games they are good at their studies,” said coach Amandeep Singh.
Principal Jaswinder Kaur Sidhu congratulated the winners and motivated them to achieve more success.
