Govt Cancels Gitanjali Gems’ SEZ Project In Maharashtra . Government approved the cancellation of Gitanjali Gems’ special economic zone (SEZ) project in Maharashtra on November 18 2016.The decision was taken by the Board of Approval (BoA), headed by Commerce Secretary Rita Teaotia.
Reason behind Cancellation Gitanjali Gems’ SEZ Project In Maharashtra :
i. The company’s gems and jewellery SEZ was notified on June 9, 2008 and the approval of the company was expired on October 24, 2011.
ii. The developer could not get green zone converted to industrial zone even after lapse of eight years from notification.
