Chris Stapleton, Carrie Underwood win top honour at CMA Awards

Chris Stapleton bagged two top trophies — male vocalist and music video of the year for “Fire Away” — while Carrie Underwood won the female vocalist honour at the 2016 Country Music Association Awards.The video of “Fire Away” has been directed by Tim Mattia. Misunderstood.Garth Brooks won the entertainer of the year honour, which was presented to him by pop star Taylor Swift.
Vocal duo of the year award went to Brothers Osborne, while vocal group of the year was awarded to Little Big Town.
Maren Morris earned the new artist of the year award. Guitarist Dann Huff won the musician of the year honour.
R&B star Beyonce made a surprise appearance at the awards where she performed to her song “Daddy Lessons” with music band Dixie Chicks.

The televised annual presentation ceremony features performances and award presentations by popular country music artists.
