Pakistan women’s football striker Shahlyla Ahmadzai Baloch passed away in a car accident in Karachi. Born on 12 March 1996, Shahlyla was FIFA’s yongest player at the early age of 7.Baloch, 20, was one of the finest strikers for Pakistan women’s football team. She represented the country at the South Asian Football Federation Women Football Championship 2014 in Islamabad, which was
the last international event that Pakistan women’s team competed in. Shahlyla was on the scoresheet in Pakistan’s 4-1 win over Bhutan.
Earlier, Baloch became the first Pakistani woman to score a hat-trick abroad during her stint in Maldives. She also made the score sheet in Pakistan’s 4-1 victory over Bhutan in 2014 SAFF Women’s Championship.
Daughter of Senator Rubina Irfan, who happened to be the chairperson of the Pakistan Football Federation (PFF) Women’s Wing, was accused of favouritism for choosing her daughter to play, after Pakistan made an early exit from the SAFF Women’s Championships in 2014. Shahlyla’s sister Raheela Zarmain is also associated with the football team as a manager.
Shahlyla donned the famous number seven jersey following players David Beckham and Cristiano Ronaldo.  She was awarded the prestigious FIFA’s youngest player award and was also awarded the best player of Pakistan thrice in 2009, 2011 and 2013. The forward signed for the Sun Club in Maldives and scored a hat-trick during the stint over there.
She, on the other hand, was also the first ever Pakistani woman to score a hat-trick during her stint in the Maldives.
