Government will make payments under Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee (MNREGA)Programme and Sukanya Samriddhi Yojana through post offices in future. Information and Broadcasting Minister M Venkaiah Naidu made the announcement after inaugurating the Andhra Pradesh Postal and Telecom circles in Vijayawada on Tuesday. Postal payments banks will soon be
opened to make these payments as there are not many commercial bank branches. The I&B minister said the Centre's objective is to ensure welfare funds reach the beneficiaries directly without any pilferage.
