Ministry of Coal to go completely digital from October 16

The Coal Ministry which was in the dock during UPA Rule over allegations of coal block allocation scam is now presenting an example of transparency. Moving ahead with the goal of e-governance, the Coal Ministry will become the first Department which would go fully paperless from 16th of October. That means all types of files and correspondence in this Ministry would be through the
digital mode. Efforts were going on for this for a long time and after NIC developed software the movement of almost all files shifted to the digital mode. Coal Secretary Anil Swaroop's experience has gone a long way in making the Coal Ministry paperless. He had earlier headed the project monitoring group in the Cabinet Secretariat where everything was being done via the electronic way.

According to him, a paperless ministry will put pressure on the officials to work in a transparent and time bound manner.

Thanks to the software developed by NIC, several departments like the Rural Development Ministry have moved forward on the path of e-governance, but the Coal Ministry has been in the forefront in the campaign and is now all set to become the first ministry to go paperless.
