Jharkhand to introduce pension for sportspersons

Jharkhand government will introduce a pension scheme for those sports persons who brought laurels to the state or the country, but are still working as daily wager. Chief Secretary Rajbala Verma issued the direction today to prepare sportperson pension scheme for those players who had brought glory for the state or country but still working as a daily wager, an official release said here.  Reviewing the
departments of Tourism, Sports, Art and Culture, Verma also called for preparing a list of such sports persons from Jharkhand who participated or won in Olympics/Asian/National Games so that they could be recruited as coaches.

Schools should give priority to sports so that children could be encouraged, she said and directed to set up a ‘diet food fund’ for sports persons selected for national events.
