Japan’s Morinari Watanabe elected President of International Gymnastics Federation

Japan’s Morinari Watanabe elected President of International Gymnastics Federation. Morinari Watanabe(57) from Japan was elected as the Ninth president of the International Gymnastics Federation at the 81st FIG Congress in Tokyo. He will replace Bruno Grandi. Nelli Kim was elected vice president of the FIG along with China’s Luo Chaoyi (China) and Vasily Titov (Russia).

Morinari Watanabe :

i. Morinari won 100 of the 119 votes and only 19 votes received by Bruno.
Japan's Morinari Watanabe elected President of International Gymnastics Federationii. He has been the secretary general of the Japan Gymnastics Association since 2010, and was elected to the FIG Executive Committee four years ago.
iii. He ran on a platform of increasing the popularity of the sport of gymnastics around the world.
