India-Myanmar sign three pacts

India and Myanmar have agreed for close security coordination in border areas keeping in view the sensitivity of each other's strategic interests. Prime Minister Narendra Modi and State Counsellor of Myanmar Aung San Suu Kyi held bilateral talks in Delhi on Wednesday after which the two sides inked 3 pacts on power, banking and insurance. In a press statement after holding delegation level talks with visiting State Counsellor of Myanmar Aung San Suu Kyi in New Delhi, PM Modi said, as a reliable partner and friend, India stands shoulder to shoulder with Myanmar. PM said the two countries have agreed on security co-ordination in border areas.

The two countries also agreed to enhance engagement in various fields including agriculture sector. PM said Archaeological Survey of India will soon begin work on restoring 2 temples & inscriptions of King Mindon & King Baygyidaw in Bodh Gaya.

Myanmar State Counsellor Aung San Suu Kyi said that her country has suffered a lot for lack of peace and stability and Indian democracy has always been a source of inspiration for Myanmar. 

Aung San Suu Kyi said that deepening friendship between the neighbours would play an important role in peace and stability in the region.
