ICGS Gaidinliu Commissioned into Navy

Fast patrol vessel ICGS Gaidinliu, named after Naga freedom-fighter and leader Rani Gaidinliu, was commissioned by Director-General Rajendra Singh of the Coast Guard. The vessel would be used for search and rescue operations, surveillance at sea, coastal patrol and anti-smuggling operations, besides protection of merchant navy vessels and fishermen.  Hindusthan Shipyard Ltd (HSL) built the vessel. It
is the fourth of five such vessels being built by HSL for the Coast Guard.

Commandant Ramesh Vasant will command the vessel, to be stationed at Krishnapatnam port.
