Bahrain-Kerala friendship summit today

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Bahrain-Kerala Friendship Summit 2016, to mark the sliver jubilee celebrations of Bahrain Returnees and Residents’ Association, will be held in the capital on Thursday.
Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan will inaugurate the programme at Taj Vivanta, Thycaud, at 5 pm. Shaikh Khalifa bin Daij Al Khalifa, President, Court of The Crown Prince of Bahrain will be the
chief guest of the function. The Chief Minister will present the inaugural Bahrain-Kerala Friendship Award to Shaikh Khalifa.
Forest Minister K Raju, Shashi Tharoor MP,  K E Ismail, state secretary, Kerala Pravasi Federation, Swami Gururatnam Jnana Thapaswi, Organising Secretary, Santhigiri Ashram, Varghese Kurien, Chairman and Managing Director, Al Namal and VKL Group, Bahrain; B Ravi Pillai, Chairman and Managing Director, RP Group of Companies, Bahrain and V K Rajashekaran Pillai, MD, National Firefighting Company, Bahrain, will offer felicitations.
Financial assistance to five deserving students to continue their higher education will also be presented on the occasion. The financial assistance programme is being co-ordinated by Sasikumar N, Treasurer and Mridula Mohan, Assistant Secretary of Bahrain Returnees and Residents’ Association.
Cultural programme ‘Dhrutha Thaalam’ - a unique blend of performing arts presented by Shadows, Thiruvananthapuram, will also be staged on the occasion.
