TCS joins hands with SASTRA Varsity to train school teachers

CHENNAI, SEPT 5:  IT major Tata Consultancy Services today announced that it has partnered with Thanjavur-based SASTRA Deemed University to train over 2,000 teachers from Tamil Nadu on digital teaching methods, and also set up a teacher’s training centre at the varsity campus. “Tata Consultancy Services has partnered with SASTRA University, Thanjavur to establish a Teacher’s
Training Centre at the University with the objective of familiarising the teachers with emerging digital teaching methods,” a company statement said.

More than 2,000 school teachers from various educational institutions across Tier-II and -III cities from Tamil Nadu would be trained at the training centre, it said.

Executive Vice-President and Head Global Human Resources, TCS, Ajoyendra Mukherjee said “Technology is rapidly transforming the education sector with digital technologies increasingly becoming an integral part of the students’ lifestyle.”

“By announcing the initiative for teachers in Tamil Nadu, TCS believes that empowering the teachers through this programme on digital learning will help enhance the quality of education provided,” he added.

The training programme would be offered predominantly to school teachers across primary, secondary, higher secondary and to professional college teachers, the release said.

Each six-day training programme would be organised in batches of 45 at the centre. The first batch is expected to commence in October, it added.
