London has maintained top spot as a centre for business, finance and culture, widening its lead over its competitors. PwC’s Cities of Opportunity 7 report measures 30 cities across 10 indicators including transportation and infrastructure, the ease of doing business, demographics and liveability, technology readiness and cost. In addition to the overall ranking, the study also ranks cities against
each of the 10 indicators. In this edition, London retains the top slot as a centre for business, commerce and culture. For the second time in a row London performs strongly across the range of indicators and sees it further extending its lead against its closest rivals Singapore, Toronto, Paris, Amsterdam and New York.
It remains to be seen what impact the UK’s decision to leave the EU will have on the city. If Brexit has effects on London, they will play out in a process over time in areas like talent mobility, trade and regulation.
