The Delhi Cabinet on Wednesday announced state-level bravery awards would be given on Republic Day and Independence Day from next year onwards. It also decided that Delhi Fire Services, Delhi Police, and other uniformed personnel will be covered by the Rs 1 crore ex gratia amount for death on duty. On the bravery awards, an official said, “Ten awards, each carrying a cash award of Rs 2 lakh,
will be distributed on January 26, and another 10 awards on August 15. Citizens have the right to nominate themselves as candidates or send in preferred nominations.”
At a meeting chaired by Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, the Cabinet approved a proposal to make families of Delhi-based personnel of Delhi Fire Services who lose their lives in the line of duty “to safeguard the lives and properties of citizens, eligible for a compensation of Rs 1 crore”. So far, the government had been covering Delhi Police, armed forces, paramilitary forces and other uniformed forces such as Home Guards under its compensation policy.
”This compensation policy also covers the families of uniformed personnel killed on duty outside Delhi, provided the families reside in the national capital,” a government official said in a statement.
At the meeting, a decision was taken to extend the Aam Aadmi Mohalla Clinics Pilot Project for a year, with effect from September 22.
