Eminent Shia scholar Raza passes away at 80


HYDERABAD: Noted Shia scholar Moulana Syed Ghulam Hussain Raza Agha passed away on Friday. He was 80. He was suffering from a bout of illness and breathed his last at KIMS in Secunderabad. The cleric headed the Shiite religious body, Majlis-e-Ulama-o-Zakireen and was also the general secretary of All India Shia Personal Law Board. It was in the early 1950s that Maulana Raza Agha travelled to Najaf, Iraq in
pursuit of a religious education. He is said to have been a student of Imam Khomeini who spearheaded the Iranian revolution. The funeral procession will be held on Saturday from his home "Shariatkada" in Noor Khan Bazaar. He will be laid to rest at Daira Mir Momin in Sultanshahi. He is survived by a daughter and a son.
