All India cotton conference to be held at Coimbatore from August 19


KOCHI: Indian Cotton Federation (ICF) is organising the third all India biennial conference on cotton jointly with Indian Cotton Association Ltd (ICAL), Bathinda on two days from August 19 at Coimbatore. The main theme of the conference is Indian cotton scenario in 2016-17 along with global cotton outlook as a back drop. Around 400 delegates from all over India will participate and discuss on the real situation of cotton
acreage, demand, supply equation, price situation, sustainable management etc. Cream of stake holders like ginners, traders, brokers and cotton consuming mills will also attend.

The gathering will discuss and compile conclusion to solicit necessary government policy initiative both from the centre and the state, said P Nataraj, vice president of ICF and conference chairman.

Cotton Advisory Board had estimated 338 lakh bales as production for 2015-16 ``We estimate this year's cotton production and volume also will be around the same .

Price aspect will be as per the supply position at the global level,'' he added.

The conference will honour a few illuminaries with life time achievement awards for their contribution to cotton development.
