In a major development ahead of Uttar Pradesh Assembly Elections, Apna Dal has merged with BJP.While Mayawati is still struggling, this merger is a shot in the arm for BJP as Apna Dal has a huge support base mainly among the OBC communities of the Varanasi-Mirzapur area. Apna Dal leader Anupriya Patel might be inducted in the Cabinet reshuffle tomorrow. According to sources, with
elections in Uttar Pradesh due in March next year, the reshuffle is expected to boost several leaders from the BJP, and its allies in UP. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will on Tuesday reshuffle his council of ministers at a ceremony to be held at Rashtrapati Bhavan. The reshuffle is important as the government needs to fill vacancies before the commencement of the Monsoon Session of Parliament that begins July 18.
