Rohan Prem, Kerala Cricket Association's cricketer of the year


Batsman Rohan Prem was adjudged the cricketer of the year by the Kerala Cricket Association as it announced the annual awards for the 2015-16 season at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium, Kochi on Thursday. Rohan was the leading run-scorer for Kerala in the Ranji Trophy with 705 runs from eight matches. He also top-scored for the team in the Syed Mushtaq Ali TrophyT20 Trophy with 356 runs
from nine matches. Captain Sachin Baby, who enjoyed a good Vijay Hazare Trophy with 244 runs from six matches, was chosen as the best batsman. The best fast bowler's award went to Sandeep Warrier, who bagged 28 wickets from eight matches last Ranji season, while KS Monish, who was the third-highest wicket-taker overall with 49 scalps, got the best spinner award.

The women cricketer of the year award went to A Akshaya of Kannur.


Madan Mohan and NS Krishan (posthumous) were chosen for the GV Raja Lifetime Achievement award. Hamsakunju, the chief curator at the Jawaharlal Nehru stadium, got the best curator prize. Sanju Samson, who got into the senior Indian team last year, and KN Ananthapadmanabhan, who officiated in the IPL as an on-field umpire, will be given special honours on Saturday when the awards will be distributed in Kochi.

Other major awardees: Fabid Farook (Best all-rounder), Rohan S Kunnumel (Most promising youngstar), Mohammed Azharuddeen (Best wicketkeeper), Sreekumaran Nair (Best coach), Roshini Sebastian (Best junior women cricketer), Ganashyam Prabhu (Best umpire), SF Daryl (Special award for excellent performance), Biju Mon (Best academy coach), Vishnu Babu N (Best academy player-boys), Kavya (Best academy player-girls)
