Bangladesh makes extradition with India easy

The Bangladesh government has approved an amendment to the extradition treaty between the two countries to make extradition easier. Under the amendment, extradition of convicted and under-trial criminals will be possible if a court in any of the two countries issues an arrest warrant.  Earlier, evidence of crime along with arrest warrant were needed for extradition. A cabinet meeting chaired by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina
approved the amendment. Talking to reporters after the cabinet meeting, Cabinet Secretary Shafiul Alam said the proposal for amendment was moved following the Indian request to make the extradition process with Bangladesh easier.

The extradition treaty between both countries has been in effect since October 23, 2013.
