Chennai: Noted agricultural scientist M S Swaminathan and former DGP V Vaikunth were among those chosen to receive this year’s ‘Pride of Madras’ awards. Instituted by SCGOBN in 2015 in association with the Rotary Club of Madras Mount, the awards are presented to individuals who have gone beyond the call of duty in serving senior citizens and the poor and needy through their respective professions. said the awardees have through their social service put Madras (Chennai) on the world map and were really and truly ‘The Pride of Madras.’
The awards are presented during Madras Week celebrations.in August every year. The recipients of this years awards are: Dr M S Swaminathan, Vaikunth, Dr S Rajan. Director, Madras Medical Mission, R Nagasundaram, senior advocate, The High Court of Madras, Padma Ramamurthy, noted medical practioner (984006938), C Mahadevan, software engineer.
The awards would be presented by the president of Rotary Club Madras Mount in August during Madras Week celebrations.
