India remains polio free, no need to fear virus strain: Nadda

Union Health Minister J P Nadda has said that India remains polio free and there is no need to panic about the Vaccine Derived Polio Virus detected in Hyderabad earlier this month. Nadda was speaking after reviewing the special immunisation drive undertaken in Hyderabad and Ranga Reddy districts in the wake of VDPV being found in Hyderabad. The strain of the polio virus was detected in laboratory
tests of samples collected from a Sewerage Treatment Plant at Amberpet. 2,10,626 children have been vaccinated in the past four days.
