Jaipur: Imran Khan of Alwar who gave up the copyright to 60 of his mobile apps on education and gifted the same to HRD ministry was nominated for state-level Bhamashah Award on Tuesday. Khan shot to fame after Prime Minister Narendra Modi mentioned his name while addressing Indian diaspora at Wembley in the UK in 2015. Modi in his speech had said, "My India resides in Imran of Alwar," while recognizing his
contribution for enhancing learning outcome among school students. Bhamashah award is given to those individuals who have made donations in cash and land for upliftment of the society. Khan is among very few individuals from the state who have been chosen for donating 60 mobile apps. The award ceremony is on June 28.
"I am happy to have been nominated for this award. This will encourage me to work with more confidence and belief," said Khan.
The total estimated value of his apps are Rs 3.32 crores. So far, 45 lakh users have downloaded his apps and 6 crore people have read his page.
Khan is a math teacher in a government sanskrit school in Alwar.
He made these apps while learning the basics of programing and website development from his brother who is an engineer. He made his first app in 2012 even before he had a smartphone. He donated his apps during an IT meet by HRD ministry in November 2015.
The BSNL has awarded Khan with lifelong free broadband internet service.
Bhamashah awards were started by former vice-president of India, Bhairon Singh Shekhawat, to recognize those individuals who have contributed in the progess of the state.
